Utilization of Biowastes Through Vermitechnology
AbstractTwo species of earthworms, Eisena foetida (exotic) and Perionyx foveatus (local) were evaluated through vermitechnology. Both the species were found most efficient for quality and compost biomass production in the climatic condtion of Kathmandu. A simple technology was developed for composting domestic kitchen wastes (organic) in the wooden boxes. The nutrients (NPK) content in compost prepared with the help of E. foetida were 1.02%, 0.62% and 1.50% respectively and while that prepared with the help of P.foveatus contained 1.05%, 0.58% and 1.30% respectively.
