Effects of Co-inoculation of Bradyrhizobium japonicum and Azotobacter chroococcum on Nodulation and Growth of Soyabean
AbstractThe effects of Azotobacter chroococcum and Bradyrhizobium japonicum on soybean [Glycine mux(L.) Merrill var. Ransom] in different parameters viz. nodule number per plant, their fresh and dry weight, shoot and root length etc. were studied. Inoculation and co-inoculation of bacteria were carried out by seed inoculation method. Nodule number per plant was increased by 7.44% in Azotobacter inoculated plants (A+B-), 470.70% in Bradyrhizobium inoculated plants (A-B+) and 516.12% in Azotobacter and Bradyrhizobium inoculated plants (A+B+) over control (A-B-). Similarly, the increment in fresh weight of nodules per plant was by 73.53% in A+B-, 385.71% A-B+ and 531.42% in A+B+ over control. Likewise, the increment in dry weight of nodules per plant was 52.50% in A+B-, 292.50% in A-B+ and 327.50% in A+B+ over control.
